Our most popular brake
Eliminate 60% to 80% of your rifle's recoil by using it's expanding gases to brake the rearward movement of almost any center fire rifle. Kick is produced in two different ways referred to as PRIMARY and SECONDARY recoil. The powder in your cartridge when ignited, expands violently, pushing the bullet through and out your barrel, but for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, this is primary recoil. Unfortunately this is something we must all learn to live with because there is nothing we can do to reduce it or eliminate it. Fortunately this makes up for only a small percentage of your rifles kick. Secondary recoil is the big problem. This is the recoil created when those gases escape the end of your barrel and propel your rifle like a rocket into your shoulder. Fortunately this can be dealt with by using a muzzle brake. When the bullet leaves the end of the barrel and passes through the break, the back of the bullet acts like a valve and the gases are released at right angles to the barrel canceling each other out and eliminating the gas induced, or secondary recoil. The SCORE HIGH MUZZLE BRAKE has a row of ports on top to eliminate muzzle rise and no ports on the bottom so as not to raise dust off the ground or create shock waves off the ground.

All rifles are not the same. They vary in design according to their application. Just as using truck tires on a sports car gives poor handling so does using a hunting rifle style muzzle brake on an AR (automatic rifle) style rifle. In order for each type of rifle to achieve the best possible performance we have found it necessary to make the Score High Muzzle Brake in 3 different styles, The Hunter, The Tactical Bolt and The AR Brake.
The expanding gas that creates recoil always forces the rifle backwards on the center line of the bore.
On a hunting rifle the center of support or the center of the butt plate is significantly below the center of the bore and the greater that difference the more the muzzle of the rifle will rise when fired. The Hunter style Score High Muzzle Brake has four ports on each side, no ports on the bottom, and four smaller ports on top. The escaping gases from the top ports hold the rifle’s muzzle down, offering the shooter the greatest control over the rifle.
Tactical bolt action rifles or rifles primarily fired from a bipod have a different need. The downward thrust from the 4 top ports exerts pressure on the bipod causing a slight bounce during recoil. The Tactical Bolt style Score High Muzzle Brake, with the top of the brake limited to 2 ports, perfectly balances the muzzle rise with the downward thrust for the best bipod optimizing shooting performance.
Because AR (Automatic Rifle) style rifles are supported so close to the center of the bore top ports actually drive the muzzle down robbing the shooter of total control. The AR Brake style Score High Muzzle Brake has no ports on top or the bottom, it only has 4 large ports on each side, giving total control with both automatic and semi-automatic fire.
The Hunter, $159 installed. This requires a gunsmith installation and includes threading and re-crowning the muzzle, custom fitting and finishing of the brake to match the current finish on the rifle. Available in stainless or blued.
Thread size note: Because of varying muzzle diameters, calibers and the position of front sights. We use a large variety of thread sizes. All are .400 long. If, in the future you plan to fit a suppressor to your rifle you should choose the Tactical brake because the thread size for the Hunter brake will most likely not work.
The Tactical Bolt, $195.00 installed. This requires a gunsmith installation and includes threading and re-crowning the muzzle, custom fitting and finishing of the brake to match the current finish on the rifle. Available in stainless or blued.
Tactical
Brake Thread size Note: Whenever possible we will use the same thread
size as an
AR-15, (1/2 - 28 x .700) or AR-10, (5/8 - 24 x .700). If you have any
future desires to fit a suppressor to your rifle the thread size of the Tactical
Bolt Muzzle Brake fits the broadest array of suppressors available on the market
today.

Depending on your needs we offer 2 levels of accurizing services to Remington 700 rifles. All Remington 700s fall into one of two categories light/sporter or heavy/target. The light/sporter models are confined to only level 1 (unless the barrel is replaced). Because the taper of the light/sporter barrel starts immediately at the recoil lug and tapers quickly to a sporter weight there is not enough barrel material to remove all of the original threads and cut new ones. The heavy/target models such as, but not limited to, the Sendero, VLS, VSF, or BDL Varmint are suited to both levels of our accurizing services.

The best accuracy possible is everybody's goal. Our 29-point diagnostic is the straightest line to that goal. Many times the diagnostic process itself drastically enhances accuracy.. Each diagnostic begins by first measuring all critical tolerances such as the bore diameter, groove diameter and throat diameter and length. With the use of optical inspection equipment the condition of the bore’s surface is checked along with the condition of the barrels crown. Also important is the consistency of the bore diameter and consistency of the twist. Chamber casting will open windows onto any flaws or irregularities in the chamber and throat. After that the rifle is carefully disassembled. As the rifle is disassembled we look for anything that might impair accuracy, such as poorly torqued scope mount or guard screws or stress torqued into an assembly. Vibrations are the result of a lack of rigidity or from stress resulting from the poor relationship of a rifle's different components or subassemblies. Through the use of dial indicators these problems are identified and solutions can be recommended. Many times these problems are reduced or eliminated during reassembling. Some problems are not as easy. Poor chamber work can be devastating to good accuracy. The best match grade barrel and pillar bedded stock will never yield good accuracy if your chamber has a crooked, or over size throat. Each of the 29 points are checked or measured then given a grade of 1 to 5, 5 being perfect.

Barrel Work
Good accuracy greatly depends on having a quality barrel properly installed. Great pains are taken to insure that you get the best possible accuracy from your selected barrel. To start with, all barrel work is done in a four jaw independent chuck, indicated in to within .0001”. Our reamers are fitted with a complete size range removable pilots. Only a perfect pilot to bore fit guarantees a concentric chatter free throat. The crown of each barrel is cut with a razor sharp tool then polished and honed for the perfect bullet release We have tight neck reamers along with short and standard length throats for almost all common target cartridges and we are getting more all the time.
We install barrels from a variety of manufactures from both pre-contoured blanks and unturned blanks. These prices only include polishing and finishing of the new barrel. We can refinish the entire firearm for an additional fee. This service is priced on request. We can obtain barrels from any manufacturer if you have a favorite that’s not mentioned below.

Score High Gunsmithing is a Certified Cerakote Applicator
H-Series Cerakote in our opinion is the toughest coating available and comes in a wide variety of colors. It can be applied to all metals, polymers, fiberglass and even optics. For the utmost in strength and toughness, H-Series Cerakote is cured at high temperatures, however for items such as fiberglass and optics it can be cured at a lower temperature for a longer period of time and still retain much of its high temperature cured properties. Also available is C-Series Cerakote. Obtainable in many colors it is a room temperature cure (RTC) coating and once cured has the ability to withstand temperatures as high as 1700 Deg. F without discoloring.
You can follow one of two paths to procure a Cerakote finish on your firearm. The least expensive is to do all of your own disassembly and reassembly and deliver to us only the parts that you would like to have coated. This method incurs all the pricing in Table 1 minus $25.00. The second method is to send us your complete firearm and we will disassemble and reassemble it. The charges in Table 2, break down firearms into three categories and includes disassembly and reassembly. Scope mounting may incur additional charges. Our staff is composed of professional gunsmiths, if we find any anomalies or repairs necessary, we will contact you and go over the needed repairs and their cost before any work is done. You will be able to calculate the price of your desired Cerakote finish by adding the Cerakote charges in Table 1 to the appropriate charges in Table 2.
Table 3 is for special situations and/or additional charges and assumes that all disassembly has been done prior to the firearm arriving at the shop.

Glossary of Terms
Layering.
Appling a layered pattern is achieved by coating an entire part with one
base color then partially oven curing that part for a set time allowing the part
to be handled without damaging the finish. This step of applying color on top
of color is repeated for each additional color to achieve a desired multicolor
pattern.
Stenciled pattern using layering.
This is a layering pattern that uses high temperature adhesive stencils
to achieve a desired pattern. This pattern will have very sharp and defined
edges of each of the colors of the various layers.
Layering without stencils.
This pattern is done free hand and has softer less defined color
transitions that will often fade away transitioning to the underlying color
layer.
Additional color applied to certain parts (no
layering)
An example of this would be a pistol frame of one color and all of the
attached parts being a different color.

Parkerizing $150.00
Is a dark gray corrosion resistant mil spec finish also known as a Zinc
Phosphate finish. It can only be applied to Carbon steel parts.
Stainless steel, aluminum or brass cannot be parkerized
$165.00 for most firearms
Our bluing process is what is known as hot bluing. We have our own bluing salt formula that yields a very dark almost black finish on brightly polished steel. We can create different effect depending on the metal preparation.
Q&A
Q. How durable is bluing?
A. Bluing is not a coating on top of the metal, it is the metal its self. The surface has been oxidized and there for it reflects a different light. Because bluing is not a coating it offers very little protection against rust and corrosion. Wear resistance will vary depending on the hardness of the metal. Bluing will ware off of soft steel quite easily ware as it is a bit more robust on harder steels.
Epoxy bedding
Accuracy depends on Shot-to-shot consistency. A great deal of a rifles ability to achieve this consistency is dictated by the relationship between the barreled action and the stock. During the firing process, a great deal of recoil or kick is created which tends to shift the barrel and action in the stock. This change dramatically affects the rifles ability to achieve shot-to-shot repeatability. Nothing short of a good epoxy bedded stock can insure that your rifle is attaining its potential accuracy.
Pillar bed, (recommended for live varmint and benchrest rifles) refers to the process of epoxy bedding an aluminum pillar sleeve in the stock around the guard screw hole. This allows the guard screws to draw the action and the trigger guard together against a solid aluminum pillar sleeve.
Epoxy bed action and float barrel. (recommended for most hunting rifles) This refers to epoxy bedding the rifle’s action, chamber area of the barrel and trigger guard. The guard screw holes are bored over size and filled with high compressive strength bedding epoxy. This creates a epoxy pillar within the stock. The barrel is free floated.
Epoxy bed entire rifle. This refers to epoxy bedding the rifle’s action, barrel and trigger guard. The guard screw holes are bored over size and filled with high compressive strength bedding epoxy. This creates a epoxy pillar within the stock.
